JVM resource not showing as available in JBoss ON

Issue

  • JVM resource not showing as available in JBoss ON
  • JVM resource - SOA server's child resource is discovered but not available and the following message is logged in the agent.log file:
INFO  [WorkerThread#0[10.203.129.103:43393]] (rhq.core.pc.inventory.InventoryManager)- Unable to connect to managed resource of type [JBoss AS JVM] using the specified connection properties.
org.rhq.core.pluginapi.inventory.InvalidPluginConfigurationException: Failed to start component for resource Resource[id=14805, uuid=6df4b390-2e61-41ph-28a5-074d4bbd0b5b, type={JBossAS5}JBoss AS JVM, key=JVM, name=JVM, parent=SOA server:1099 server, version=1.6.0_37].

Caused by: org.rhq.core.pluginapi.inventory.InvalidPluginConfigurationException: Failed to authenticate to managed JVM - principal and/or credentials connection properties are not set correctly.

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.1.2
  • JVM server is started with JMX remoting enabled and secured - for example the JMX server has the following system properties:
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=5222
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=true
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.password.file=/jmxremote.password
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.access.file=/jmxremote.access
