Issue

  • NFSv4 using 100% of system resources.
  • We have users running applications off NFS mount points. When the application is started using NFS version 4 the application will not start the system will become unresponsive. Using NFSv3 will allow the application to run.
  • NFS state manager thread stuck in an infinite loop trying to return delegations.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 NFSv4 client
  • AIX 7.1 NFSv4 server with delegations enabled
  • Customer was running the GlassFish java application server on the NFSv4 mounted filesystem
