Are the Intel HD 4000 series Graphics adapters embedded in the E3-12xx and core-i7 processors supported on my RHEL5 certified system?

Updated -

Issue: The embedded Intel HD Graphics 4000 series with the E3-12XX and core i7-3770 processors are supported in RHEL5 certified systems, but there is an important restriction you must be aware of when using them.

  • During QA testing of this device under RHEL5, a bug was detected that can lead to system hangs and/or crashes when multiple X sessions are concurrently started.

Environment:

  • RHEL 5
  • Intel HD Graphics P4000 with E3-1245v2/E3-1225v2
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000 with i7-3770
  • Multiple, simultaneous Xsessions

Resolution:

  • Until the bug has been resolved, do not run multiple, concurrent X sessions to avoid a potential system hang and/or crash.
  • The root cause of this bug has not yet been determined, and Red Hat is collaborating with their Partners to determine the source of the bug and a fix.
  • If this knowledge article is attached to a system certification, please assume that this bug affects the system under RHEL5.
  • Vendors that have certified their systems with this bug are required to provide alternate graphics adapters that are supported under RHEL5. Red Hat strongly suggests that one of the alternate graphics adapters be selected as part of the system configuration at time of purchase.
  • RHEL6 is not impacted by this bug, and may be safely used instead of RHEL5.
