Why a user with 40 character password cannot log in to Satellite 5.6 ?

Issue

• A user with a very long password (40 characters) reporting that his satellite login fails. In the environment, PAM authentication method is used, which is passing auth down to kerberos. The user reports that his password works fine everywhere except the Satellite login page. Is there a maximum password size limit set for user password ?
• User has never been able to log in to satellite with current long password.
• Looking for clarification on if the user needs to shorten his password, or if it is possible to adjust it in a server-side setting?
