Storage path errors with EMC Powerpath on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Issue
- System periodically hangs after migration to new SAN
- Intermittently, after migrating the filesystem over to a new SAN, this system will freeze
- EMC Powerpath command "powermt display dev=all" shows some paths in "unlic" state.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL5)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL6)
- EMC Clariion SAN (Vendor:DGC, Model:RAID5)
- It is currently unknown if other SAN's are affected.
- EMC Powerpath multipathing software
- device-mapper-multipath is not affected by this issue.
- EMC Powerpath license may or may not be installed.
powermt display dev=allshows failover policy=BasicFailover and the mode of some paths is shown as "unlic":
