Cluster resource fails with "Could not match <device> with a real device" error

Issue

Cluster fails with errors like :

rgmanager[3256]: [fs] stop: Could not match /dev/mapper/volume-group-logical-volume1 with a real device
rgmanager[3293]: [fs] stop: Could not match /dev/mapper/volume-group-logical-volume2 with a real device
rgmanager[3330]: [fs] stop: Could not match /dev/mapper/volume-group-logical-volume3 with a real device

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On.
  • A cluster service in /etc/cluster/cluster.conf containing an lvm resource.
    • Failure occurs during start or stop of resource .
