Why does RHEL6 tomcat6 depend on java-1.5.0-gcj?

Why does the RHEL6 tomcat6 package require the java-1.5.0-gcj package? We have a newer version of java installed.

Have observed that the tomcat6 package has a dependency on java-1.5.0-gcj and deploys this even when a later java stack is already installed. It doesn't appear to be using the 1.5.0 jre version, but removing it via yum also removes tomcat6. Are you able to advise what the dependancy (sic) requirement is, so this can be passed back to our security team?
