How the interface naming takes place in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7?

- In Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7, interface are not always named as
ethXwhich was the behaviour till RHEL 6. - How the new naming takes place ?
- Is it possible to switch to old naming convention like
ethX?
