The purpose of the 'Network' attribute on the JMX MBean representing a connection to an ActiveMQ consumer is unclear

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

The JMX tree for ActiveMQ holds records for each consumer attached to a destination, and one of these records is a list of connections. Most connections are likely to be from a network of some sort, even if the are from the same host. But only some connections have the JMX attribute "Network=true".

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss A-MQ
    • 6.x

Does not apply to AMQ 7, which uses a completely different model of network interaction.
