Ping reports missing replies even though a tcpdump shows that the replies arrived

tcpdump taken on the sender shows all the missing pings

^C
# tshark -r ping_test.pcap -R "icmp.seq >= 659 && icmp.seq <= 708 && icmp.type == 0"
Running as user "root" and group "root". This could be dangerous.
