Unable to browse Windows Network shares using nautilus in RHEL7 system.

Issue

• When trying to access Windows shares from Places -> Browse network -> Windows Network, getting an error message :

  Unable to access location, 
  Failed to retrieve share list from server: No such file or directory"
  

• The windows systems are reachable by other means, eg: ping, remote-desktop etc.. Also the Windows shares are accessible from Nautilus using "Connect to Server" option.
