System booting into maintenance mode after "dracut: Switching root", not able to enter the password.

Issue

• System either not booting at all, booting taking long time or after removing "rhgb" and "quite" from kernel boot command line in GRUB, it is hanging in maintenance mode after "dracut: Switching root" message.
• When entering the password (in maintenance mode), every second character in the root password triggers a return (ENTER) and the prompt reappears.
