Why Xorg consumes 100% CPU when execute xfreerdp or rdesktop session with radeon driver ?

Issue

  • When a RDP session xfreerdp or rdesktop is started the Xorg process consumes 100% of the CPU and RDP session against Windows becomes too slow.
  • The problem is solved when system is booted with radeon.modeset=0 kernel parameter, however this disables radeon.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • xorg-x11-drv-ati-7.3.99-2.el6.6
