What is recommended version of PAX-EXAM and what are the alternatives to PAX-EXAM ?

Issue

I am currently trying to integrate PaxExam with JUnit to install and test camel routes on an existing remote JBoss Fuse server. I am failing to find sufficient documentation regarding PaxExam, specially how to run tests on remote server.
Questions
- What is the recommended PAX-EXAM version to use ?
- Can we deploy and run test remotely using Pax-Exam ? if so how ?
- Is Arquillian a possible alternative ?
- Can you please provide any documentation/working example ?
