NIS master to slave updates broken after DNS domain name change on RHEL6

Issue

I had to change the DNS domain name of my RHEL6 NIS master and now 'make -C /var/yp' doesn't work. And worse, a map I just changed has entirely disappeared. The domain name changed, but not hostname or the IP address of NIS master. The two NIS slaves were not changed in any way.
