Issues while bringing up `snmptrapd` with the paramater `-f` in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3, snmptrapd comes up with the default parameters as -Lsd –p /var/run/snmptrapd.pid
  • In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 and 5.6, the trap receiver i.e. traphandle default <rcvvr> does not receive any traps sent
  • If snmptrapd is started using -f -Lsd –p /var/run/snmptrapd.pid the trap receiver gets traps. Are there any changes made?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • snmp
