Kernel arguments passed via "extra" options to a virtual machine on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 are not honored

The kernel arguments passed via the "extra" options from the DomU config file are not honored while booting DomU with pygrub.
For example, passing the following option in /etc/xen/xmdomain.cfg is not honored:
