rhel6: How big can a kdump be, with the default "-c -d31" parameters?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • How big can a kdump be, with the default "-c -d31" parameters?
  • I am using the default RHEL6 kdump config:
core_collector makedumpfile -c --message-level 1 -d 31

How much space has to have prepared in a crash filesystem on these RHEL systems?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • kdump
