Can we continue to use "chronyd" for Oracle Database workloads? Are there any recommendations around this?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • RHEL7 will be used to host Oracle 11g and 12c databases. In the past we have used ntpd and configured slewing ( -x option to ntpd).
  • On RHEL7 we are using the default chronyd as ntp client. Is this a supported configuration when used with Oracle 11g and 12c ?
  • How can we add slewing support to chronyd?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • Oracle Database
  • chronyd
