virt-v2v fails with error message 'case_sensitive_path: windows: no file or directory found'

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The virt-v2v conversion for windows VM failed with the following message:
case_sensitive_path: case_sensitive_path: windows: no file or directory found with this name at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/GuestfsHandle.pm line 187.
at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/Converter/Windows.pm line 447
  • It seems virt-v2v trying to copy to '/windows' directory but on different windows system the path could very e.g. /winnt or /windows32, etc.

  • virt-v2v assumes that Windows is installed in "/windows" directory.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0
  • virt-v2v-0.8.3-5.el6.x86_64
