How to install or re-install a package in rescue mode.

Issue

  • Critical glibc package has been deleted, how can it be reinstalled?
  • The glibc libraries got deleted and now users are unable to login in the system.
  • Seeing /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory errors when executing commands.
  • Not able to chroot in rescue mode after critical packages got removed from system.

    # /bin/mkdir rpm
    -bash: /bin/mkdir: /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory
