why does it show "internal log size xxx too large, must fit in allocation group" when using 'mkfs.xfs'?

Issue

  • When using the -l option of mkfs.xfs to make a filesystem, it shows the message as bellow:
internal log size 30720 too large, must fit in allocation group

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7 and later
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Using XFS filesystem
