Why does OpenOffice stop working after upgrading from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server?

Problem: Upon upgrading Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server, OpenOffice 1.1.x is retained from the Enterprise Linux 4 install. OpenOffice fails to run on Enterprise Linux 5 if SElinux is enabled on the system.
