Brocade bna interface generates a large amount of soft interrupts (IRQs)
Issue
- Brocade bna interface generates a large amount of soft interrupts (IRQs)
- Issue is apparent on inbox and 3rd party drivers
- So far this has been tracked with EMC appliances running the Brocade 1020 10Gigabit CNA adapters at multiple customers.
- The description we have from Qlogic so far is that the receipt off CRC errors has the firmware and driver getting out of sync.
- When this happens the hardware keeps sending interrupts that are not acknowledged by the driver so they ramp up in a hurry and cause unnecessary system overhead and performance issues.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Brocade NIC
- EMC Appliance clusters running the GreenPlumb database have seen this issue at multiple customers
