How can I avoid trust password changes in samba when joined in an Active Directory

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Samba periodically changes the trust password which results the invalidation of the kerberos keytab this is used by other services (i.e. by mod_auth_kerb in apache).
  • An authentication error is recorded every one week as follows:

    winbindd[1583]: [2014/06/03 17:09:42.028895,  0] rpc_client/cli_netlogon.c:655(rpccli_netlogon_set_trust_password)
    winbindd[1583]:   rpccli_netr_ServerPasswordSet2 failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
