Why do I get `Invalid frame header; header=''` error message on remote logging appliance ?

  • After following How to handle RFC5424 messages on rsyslog I still get syslog-ng[xxxxx]: Invalid frame header; header='' on remote logging appliance
  • No messages logged on remote syslog appliance
  • Getting errors on remote logging server
  • What is RFC5424 ?
  • What is "(o)" in rsyslog.conf ?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6
  • rsyslog-5.8.10-10
  • remote logging appliance with strong security RFC5424 enabled
