What version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux is required to run a System x x3400 (7975/7976)?

The System x x3400 (7975/7976) is certified to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.2 and above.

This server was originally certified in 2006 for RHEL 5.0. IBM has since expanded the hardware using the same model/type. This includes replacing new planar/building blocks/options. All the firmware/building block functions were verified according to RHEL 5.2. Due to this the new revisions of this server have not been tested on RHEL 5.1 and RHEL 5.0. Red Hat highly recommends upgrading to RHEL 5.2 or above on this server model.

The System x x3400 (7975/7976) is also certified to run on RHEL 4.7 and above.

This server was originally certified in 2006 for RHEL 4.3. IBM has since expanded the hardware using the same model/type. This includes replacing new planar/building blocks/options. All the firmware/building block functions were verified according to RHEL 4.7. Due to this the new revisions of this server have not been tested on prior release of RHEL. Red Hat highly recommends upgrading to RHEL 4.7 or above on this server model.
