Setting Volume group TAG at install time

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I would like to know if it is possible to get the TAG of a volume group (not vg00) at install time and not have to do it at the command-line.
  • Normally when we add a VG we use:
    # vgchange --addtag $(hostname -s) <volume group name>
  • In lvm.conf we set:
    tags { hosttags = 1 }
  • So our cluster systems do not try to take over packages running on other systems.
  • For non-cluster systems we still use TAGS. I am writing a process for Disaster Recovery to re-build our systems and it would be good to have the install process automatically "tag" the (non vg00) volume groups.
