Raid6 raid-check performance degradation in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1

Issue

  • A performance regression for Raid6 after upgrading from RHEL-7.0 to RHEL-7.1 has been found.
  • Linux Software raid with default setting: RAID6 with 8 disks (6 data + 2parity)
  • RHEL7.0 results: 8 * 150 Megabyte/sec for raid-check
  • RHEL7.1 results: 8* 100Megabyte/sec for raid-check

Environment

  • RHEL 7.0 kernel kernel 3.10.0-123.20.1.el7.x86_64
  • Compared to RHEL 7.1 kernel 3.10.0-229.1.2.el7.x86_64
