NetworkManager is not disabling interfaces

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Do not want a networking interface NIC to show up as UP on boot or have ip address assignment in the output of
# ip address
  • Do not want the networking interface to power the switchport on boot
  • Have tried disabling autoconnect but even when the ip address does not show, I still see the interface is UP
# nmcli con mod enp1s0 connection.autoconnect no
  • However the interface still comes up on boot even if there is no ip address assigned. Want to completely disable the networking interface.

  • Devices are showing UP flag even though there isn't a link on that interface, ethtool as well does not show any link:

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr aa:aa:aa:xx:xx:xx
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
