Some multipath device nodes do not exist in /dev/mapper after booting in RHEL 6

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Some multipath devices do not have device nodes in /dev/mapper/ even though dmsetup and multipath show them as mapped
  • Some of the multipathed disk devices dont show up after boot
  • After reboot one of the mount point did not come up because it did not find the device file.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • device-mapper-multipath prior to release 0.4.9-56.el6
