  • The goferd trying: subscription.rhn.redhat.com:5671

Resolution

  • The goferd service is used to check any scheduled actions between the Red Hat Satellite 6 server and Red Hat Satellite 6 client systems and this service should run only on Red Hat Satellite 6 client systems.
  • Stop goferd service on Red Hat Satellite 6 and re-try with Satellite sync, also remove katello-agent and gofer packages from Red Hat Satellite 6 system,
# yum remove katello-agent gofer

Root Cause

  • The goferd service was running on Red Hat Satellite 6 server
  • The goferd service is used to check any scheduled actions between the Red Hat Satellite 6 server and Satellite 6 clients systems and this service should run only on Satellite 6 clients systems.
  • In one scenario RHEL6.6 client registered to Satellite 5.6 was running goferd service, disabling the goferd service resolves the issue.
