Udev rules fails to create devices for Infiniband RDMA

Issue

  • On a many systems with Infiniband cards, udev reports the following error messages:
June 20 12:35:10 host1 udevd-work[27274]: device node '/dev/infiniband/umad0' already exists, link to '/dev/infiniband/umad0' will not overwrite it
June 20 12:35:10 host1 udevd-work[27358]: device node '/dev/infiniband/issm0' already exists, link to '/dev/infiniband/issm0' will not overwrite it
June 20 12:35:10 host1 udevd-work[26980]: device node '/dev/infiniband/umad1' already exists, link to '/dev/infiniband/umad1' will not overwrite it
June 20 12:35:10 host1 udevd-work[26981]: device node '/dev/infiniband/issm1' already exists, link to '/dev/infiniband/issm1' will not overwrite it

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2
  • InfiniBand Mellanox Technologies MT26428 controller
  • rdma packagae
