How can I get the kerberos UPN all uppercase in RHEL 6?

Issue

we have a problem about the generation, the utilization and the coexistence of the kerberos UPN tokens between Windows and Linux OS.

We have a Windows Active Directory based KDC.
We also have both Windows and Linux clients authenticating against it.

Under Windows the username part of the UPN is generated always as UPPERCASE, whereas under RHEL-6 with sssd it's generated always as lowercase.

We need to have also Linux clients to generate UPPERCASE UPN; is it possible?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x (up to 6.6) authentication client using sssd
  • Active Directory KDC
