Why yum does not consider repository priority when deciding dependencies to install for package ?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Suppose there are two repositories rhel-repo and custom-repo. The rhel-repo provides nss package and its dependencies, one of the dependency of nss package is nspr package which provides libplc4.so. The custom-repo also has a custom package custom-nspr which provides libplc4.so. In this case require to give priority for Red Hat provided packages and priority 1 has been set on rhel-repo and priority 99 set on custom-repo. After setting priority also yum does not consider dependencies from the rhel-repo repository ?
