Why was Camel @Converter chosen over @Transformer in 'camel-sql-binding' quickstart in FSW?

I noticed that the camel-sql-binding quickstart uses Converter annotations rather than Transformer annotations.
Is there a specific reason that Converter was chosen over Transformer or a custom message composer?
