NTP restrict option is not working

Issue

We have added the restrict default noquery option to the ntp.conf file but ntpd is still responding to queries after a reboot or when ntp is started by service ntpd start.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • NTP
  • SELinux
