Some nodes never stop and/or pcs shows "status=Timed Out" errors for clvmd or GFS2 resources after 'pcs cluster stop --all' in a RHEL 7 High Availability cluster

Issue

  • When I run pcs cluster stop --all, some nodes never stop
  • When stopping the entire cluster with pcs, some nodes hang in stopping and pcs status shows "Timed Out" errors
clvmd_stop_0 on node1.example.com 'unknown error' (1): call=27, status=Timed Out, exit-reason='none', last-rc-change='Tue Nov 18 16:37:27 2014', queued=1ms, exec=90001ms

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 with the High Availability Add On
  • pcs
  • 3 or more nodes in the cluster or 2 nodes without two_node mode enabled (the latter being unsupported, but affected nonetheless)
