An IPsrcaddr resource is frequently failing with the error "No preferred source address defined" in a RHEL 7 High Availability cluster

Issue

  • I have an IPsrcaddr resource configured, and although the resource seems to be working fine, crm_mon and pcs status give me the same message showing the resource 'not running' every few minutes:

  • I frequently see an IPsrcaddr resource failing after NetworkManager and dhclient renew a DHCP lease

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 with the High Availability Add On
  • pacemaker
  • An IPsrcaddr resource defined in the cluster configuration to set the default gateway to the address created by an IPaddr2 resource
  • NetworkManager managing network devices
  • The interface managing the interface on which the default route exists uses a DHCP address
