grubby command does not default to GRUB2 and must use --grub2 option in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The grubby command does not seem to be able to update GRUB2 kernel arguments. The man page doesn't reference GRUB2 and references file paths from GRUB. The following command appears to do nothing

    # grubby --update-kernel=`/sbin/grubby --default-kernel` --args="test=1"

  • grubby --default-title command does not displaying anything

    # grubby --default-title
    # grubby --help | grep default-title
--default-title display the title of the default kernel
