Issue

  • The mkinitrd binary shipped with RHEL4 fails to copy over lvm related files to initrd, if LABEL directive is used in fstab to identify the lvm volume.
  • If root filesystem is residing on logical volume, this will result in kernel panic with mkrootdev: label / not found

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4
  • mkinitrd-4.2.1.13-4.el4_8.1
