Host controller hangs during shutdown with connection in CLOSE_WAIT stage

Issue

When we restart JBoss domain mode, the host controller process does not exit and continues to run. Old processes have a CLOSE_WAIT state connection open (target port is not open by any other process):

java      10182    jboss   79u  IPv4  61495453      0t0  TCP 127.0.0.1:54484->127.0.0.1:60367 (CLOSE_WAIT)

Environment

  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.2, running in domain mode
