fence_ilo2 fails with "Unable to connect/login to fencing device" in a RHEL 7 High Availability cluster

Issue

  • stonith-ng fails to start my devices for my HP servers using fence_ilo2
Sep  4 06:06:56 node1 stonith-ng[2009]: notice: log_operation: Operation 'monitor' [2932] for device 'node2-ilo2' returned: -201 (Generic Pacemaker error)
Sep  4 06:06:56 node1 stonith-ng[2009]: warning: log_operation: node2-ilo2:2932 [ Unable to connect/login to fencing device ]
  • fence_ilo2 seems to be failing because it can't establish an SSL connection to the iLO

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 with the High Availability Add on
  • HP server(s) using iLO2 for fencing
  • fence_ilo2
