Using Red Hat Satellite 5.6 for configuration management and deployment, at random times, servers get blank/empty configuration files from satellite.
Issue
- Using Red Hat Satellite 5.6 for configuration management and deployment. At random times, servers get their configuration files (from satellite) being reduced to 0 bytes.
- To recover the server, we need to enter single user mode and re-sync with satellite using
rhncfg-client getcommand. -
Why this happens and how to avoid this in future?
-
Configuration files in /etc/pam.d/ on clients become empty at random times, which are deployed from the satellite. Also for example, not able to change to root since all
pam.dfiles are emtpy now.
