Reverse DNS configuration has been done on bind DNS server but still reverse lookup is not working from outside?

Issue

  • Configured DNS server internally and necessary nat setting has been done on firewall. Still unable to resolve records configured in zone.
  • Public facing dns is configured to answer reverse dns query but it does not get resolve from outside.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Bind (as DNS server)
