Terminated user has lingering processes

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • User with account 'userfoo' is no longer on the Unix team. I noticed that there were a lot of lingering processes on our main internal team server, server01.

  • I had run a "pkill -U 1785" and later the same with "-9" but there is still some vestige of him around.

# ps -ef | grep -c "sudo su -"
950
# w | wc -l
535
# w userfoo | wc -l
307
  • I can see the processes with "ps -ef" but they are all under root at this time, not userfoo, so I'm not sure which I would want to kill.
