Server will not boot past init

Issue

  • Two identical systems in our RHEL4 cluster were rebooted to present new storage.
    One system booted fine and is back in production.
    One system will not boot into the OS, it hangs after finding storage with the following message on console

    SELinux: Disabled at runtime.
SELinux: Unregistering netfilter hooks

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4
  • Serial console defined in /boot/grub/grub.conf
