osad service startup fails with "undefined symbol: XML_StopParser" error

Issue

• osad fails to start
• unable to start osad service on the system
• "undefined symbol: XML_StopParser" error during start of osad service:

[root@example ~]# service osad start
Starting osad: Unable to load module osad
/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/_xmlplus/parsers/pyexpat.so: undefined symbol: XML_StopParser                           [FAILED]
