Adding a disk to a virtual machine, attempting to start a virtual machine, or exporting a template to storage fails with "Low disk space on relevant Storage Domain"

Issue

  • If the remaining space on the storage domain is less than 10% of the total storage domain size, attempting to add a new disk to a virtual machine (vm) fails with the following error message:

    Cannot add Virtual Machine Disk. Low disk space on relevant Storage Domain.
    
  • If the remaining space on the storage domain is less than 5 GB of the total storage domain size, attempting to start a virtual machine (vm) from the Manager UI will fail with the following error message:

    Cannot run VM. Low disk space on relevant Storage Domain.
    
  • If the remaining space on the storage domain is less than 5GB of the total storage domain size, attempting to start a virtual machine (vm) from the User Portal will result in the following error message being displayed:

    Operation Cancelled
    Cannot allocate and run VM from VM Pool. There are no available VMs in the VM pool.
