Leapp reporting incorrect processor/family, preventing upgrade to Rhel 8

Posted on

Attempting to upgrade a Rhel 7.9 machine to Rhel 8.6 via Leapp comes up with an inhibitor,

"Leapp detected a processor which is no longer supported in RHEL 8. Upgrade cannot proceed." and it reports the installed processor (Threadripper 2950X) is "Unsupported Family 17h"

However, running " lscpu | grep -E 'Arch|family|Model:' " gives me
CPU family: 23
Model: 8

Is there any way to skip this check, or any kind of adjustment I can make to make it see the correct processor? Is this a bug perhaps?
